Power of the Spoken Word According to the Bible
For all practical purposes, the Bible is the only glimpse into ancient history we will ever see.
The Bible started as an anthology of stories originally passed down from generation to generation in oral form. Not until after about 1800 B.C. with the invention of written language could anything be committed to the papers of that day. Composed by 40 different authors, the first of the written stories that would be incorporated into the Bible dated from around 1450 B.C. (mid to late bronze age) and ended around 465 B.C. The later writings, called the New Testament, started around 50 A.D. and ended about fifty years later.
Historically, the stories told by ancient tribesmen tried to explain to themselves the creation of their world and those extraordinary events that impacted, and changed, their everyday lives. Unable to otherwise explain them, these early tribesmen attributed them to a god and to the power of his spoken words.
By the time the last of the stories had been included in the Bible, the writers had changed their concept of the power of God's Spoken Word to include the power of words spoken by man. But the power of man's spoken words was conditional.
Because of this condition, most fail to realize their benefits. When failing is not an option, when you absolutely must find something that works for you, read the "Power of the Spoken Word According to the Bible."
